You And You - Tsion Diriba

Self-esteem means knowing your worth in the sight of God. It is when the big YOU (Christ like you) empowers and changes the “the tiny you”. One thing I’ve observed is that girls are pretty good at masking their feelings about themselves. Their mouths can say they are happy, but the truth is they are covering up a ton of insecurities and unresolved emotions. Instead of living from the inside out, they pretend to be somebody else from the outside in.

Statistics show that 70% of girls ages 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities such as attending school, when they feel bad about their looks. Did you know that seven out of ten girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way, including their looks, performance at school and relationships with friends and family members?

One wise man said, “You don’t drown by falling into the water; you drown by staying there”. It is ok if you are one of the seven because I have been there too. The problem will come if you are staying there and are not willing to do anything about it.

Let me tell you a story about a girl named Mary. She was a young lady just like you. She was thinking of getting married and having kids someday, until this angel came and interrupted all the plans she had made with her “tiny self”. He wanted her to be introduced to her “BIG SELF”. So he tells her how she was highly favored and that the lord almighty was with her. He went on saying how she would give birth and that child will save the world.

Her first reaction was, “Oh how cool, I’m going to be the mother of the savior of the world!!” NOOO!!!! The bible says that she was actually troubled and wondered what kind of greeting it was. You see, she had no clue of the ‘big her’ inside. If she had, she wouldn’t have reacted the way she did.

But Mary was indeed blessed because even though what she heard about herself was different from what she knew, she chose to not stay in the water and drown. She accepted the bigger self in her.

So I urge you today to not stay in the water. There is a bigger truth about you. AFTER ALL, YOU ARE THE DAUGHTER OF THE MOST HIGH GOD!!!!!
